Had a look at the board game designed by that weirdo centrist everyone feels inclined to retweet today and just… the absolute state of this…

First time getting the LUAS this year and I get the announcement “This tram is soiled and is being taken out of service.” Great!

Monster Museum was a cancelled 1989 arcade adventure game for the #C64 by Palace Software, featuring previously unheard music by the late Richard Joseph. Recovered by GTW in 2009, check it out at: https://t.co/Zr7H89EkJl

The Last Resort

‘The Last Resort’ by Aoife Leonard is the latest audio drama project that I’ve been working on and it broadcasts at 3pm on Near FM on the 18th and 25th of January.

This project is a result of Aoife attending the Audio Drama Workshop I ran in December 2015.

Synopsis:

Aisling and Donal are in their twenties, and both of their summers have gone to pot. Donal was supposed to be on a J1 in Miami – instead he has ended up joining his parents on their wedding anniversary trip, and is forced to spend each night with a pillow clamped around his head to block out the sound of their rampant…goings-on.

Aisling’s parents won big on the horses, and demanded that she accompany them on the family’s first ever Proper Holiday™ to act as resident babysitter. She’s stuck looking after her herd of siblings in an overcrowded caravan with less than desirable toilet facilities.

It’s looking like this could be the worst summer of their lives, until a chance meeting brings Donal and Aisling together and love blossoms! But will they be able to enjoy this new romance without their families getting in the way? The Last Resort is a comedy about going on holiday with your parents when you’re Way. Too. Old

Been pretty busy lately. Trying to finish off a few different audio drama projects while also prepping some new ones.

A new one did broadcast this week though.

The first part of a series of dramas based on plays by William Shakespeare.

Henry Hudson wrote this contemporary adaptation of King Lear for us.

Coming soon we’ll have modern adaptations of ‘A Midsummer Nights Dream’ and ‘Macbeth’.

Board Games Ireland, the little board game meet up group I started back in November 2013 now has just shy of 3000 members.

So me and some of the other organisers decided to try out had at organising our own gaming convention. This will be a full day dedicated purely to just boardgaming, we won’t be going near RPGs, war gaming or LARPing. Just sticking to our strengths.

We normally host the meet ups in a pub. But the convention will take place in the big hall at the Teachers’ Club on Parnell Sq. It’s nice and bright and we’ll have lots of big tables ideal for board gaming.

So if you’re free that weekend please come in and play some games with us.

The cast rehearse the script for the ‘Ghosts of Priory Hall’

I’m currently working on a series of Shakespeare plays that have been adapted to relate to contemporary North Dublin. The plays have been selected to fit in with the current Leaving Cert curriculum.

I’ve already recorded ‘Larry’ which was an adaptation of King Lear. Currently we’re rehearsing ‘The Ghosts of Priory Hall’ which is a contemporary version of ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ and set on a ghost estate. We’ll be recording next week and coming up after that we will be having open readings for the Macbeth adaptation.
